End Abortion Deception

Anti-abortion politicians across the country are trying to force abortion care providers to share stigmatizing, medically unproven information with their patients.

People who seek abortion care arrive at a thoughtful decision about what is best for themselves, their families, and their futures. Abortion care providers provide compassionate, patient centered care and trust patients to be the experts in their own lives.

This must stop: “Abortion Reversal” is medically unproven

Anti-abortion politicians are trying to force abortion care providers into sharing medically unproven information including suggesting that abortions can be “reversed.” These practices are not supported by science and are simply an attempt to deceive, pressure, and shame patients while discrediting abortion care providers. According to The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG):

“Claims of medication abortion reversal are not supported by the body of scientific evidence, and this approach is not recommended in ACOG’s clinical guidance on medication abortion. There are no ACOG guidelines that support this course of action.”
“There are no reliable research studies to prove that any treatment reverses the effects of mifepristone.”

The shame and stigmatization of people seeking abortion care must stop.

Patients need medically accurate information, and abortion care providers need to be able to support patients in considering their options without state-mandated deception, pressure, or shame. When anti-abortion extremists mandate misinformation and attack the integrity of abortion care providers, they make it more difficult for patients to seek support from providers before, during, and after abortion.

We trust abortion care providers to provide compassionate, evidence-based care, and we trust patients to know what decision is best for them and to be the experts in their own lives.
